Best Dash Cams in Egypt 2026: How to Choose + Full Comparison

A dash cam is the independent witness in your car: it records what really happened in an accident, a road dispute or a parking knock, so you can prove it to the insurer, the police or the other driver. This guide explains what actually matters when you choose one in Egypt, then recommends the best model for each need with a full comparison table.
Why every car in Egypt needs a dash cam
- Proof in accidents and disputes: video settles who was at fault in seconds.
- Protection while parked: parking mode records knocks and scrapes in car parks and on the street.
- Peace of mind for family cars and drivers: GPS and 4G show where the car is and how it is driven.
- Ride-hailing safety: a cabin camera protects drivers and passengers.
What to check before you buy
Resolution and sensor
4K front video makes number plates readable at a distance. The sensor matters as much as the resolution: Sony STARVIS 2 sensors give much clearer night video.
Rear and cabin cameras
Rear-end collisions are the most common accident in city traffic, so a rear camera is worth it. Most rear cameras are 1080P; a 2K or 4K rear reads plates far better. Ride-hailing drivers need an infrared cabin camera.
Supercapacitor or battery
A car parked in the Egyptian summer sun gets extremely hot inside. Supercapacitor cameras handle that heat and last for years; battery-powered cameras are cheaper but suffer in the heat.
GPS and Wi-Fi
GPS records your speed and location in every video, strong proof of how you were driving. 5GHz Wi-Fi lets you download a clip to your phone in seconds at the scene.
Parking mode
To record while the car is off, the camera needs constant power from a hardwire kit or an OBD cable. Both cut power before the car battery gets too low.
4G live view
With a 4G module and a data SIM you can watch the car live, get collision alerts and see its location from anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Does a dash cam drain the car battery?
While you drive it runs from the car. In parking mode it uses a hardwire or OBD kit that switches the camera off before the battery gets too low; for long parking, a dash cam battery pack or a low-power / radar parking mode keeps the car battery safe.
Which memory card size do I need?
128GB suits 2K–3K cameras, 256GB suits most 4K front + rear cameras, and 512GB suits 4K front + rear or 3-channel cameras on long trips. Always use a dash-cam grade card and format it in the camera once a month.
Is installation difficult?
With the lighter-socket cable you can install it yourself in about 15 minutes and hide the cable along the roof lining. For parking mode, a technician should connect the hardwire kit to the fuse box; an OBD cable simply plugs in.
Does 4G need a subscription?
You need a data SIM in the 4G module. Some cloud features from the maker may need a paid plan; live view and alerts work through the camera app.
